Morris & Co: An Adelaide Obsession โ Unveiling Adelaideโs Love Affair with the Arts & Crafts Movement
Carrick Hill invites you to explore Adelaideโs deep-rooted connection to Morris & Co. with a stunning new exhibition, Morris & Co: An Adelaide Obsession, running from 26 March to 30 June 2025.
Founded by William Morris, a pioneer of the Arts & Crafts Movement, Morris & Co. championed quality handmade design in an era of industrial progress. Adelaide embraced Morrisโs philosophy thanks to the Barr Smith family, whose passion for the movement shaped the cityโs design aesthetic. Ursula Hayward, a descendant of the Barr Smiths and Carrick Hillโs original owner, inherited their love for Morris & Co., filling her home with exquisite textiles, wallpapers, and furniture.
The exhibition features pieces from Carrick Hillโs collection, loans from the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA)โhome to the worldโs largest Morris & Co. collection outside Londonโand rarely seen works from private collections.
