National Motor Museum
50th Anniversary Picnic at the Mill
Today, this much–loved Adelaide Hills attraction holds the largest public collection of motor vehicles in Australia. Highlights include the historically significant 1899 Shearer Steam Carriage, made in Mannum and the 1963 Zeta manufactured by the South Australian Company Lightburn. A visit to the National Motor Museum is on many an enthusiast’s bucket list. The vehicles evoke memories for thousands of visitors each year and the stories they tell have immense appeal for families, tourists and school groups alike. The Museum is also renowned for its feel-good events which lovers of vintage motoring and fashion would not miss: the annual Rock & Roll Rendezvous and Bay to Birdwood Finish event.
The Museum will stage another important event on Sunday 22 November to commemorate the official opening, celebrate historic motoring and thank the many motoring clubs that have supported the Museum and kept so many special vehicles on the road.
The 50th Anniversary Picnic at the Mill will be a fun day out, with special discounted entry fees
- Up to 400 vehicles on the grounds, including cars, motorcycles, vans and buses;
- Special displays of Gold and 1965 vehicles;
- 1960s live music, old style picnic games, kids activities and food vans;
- A new display featuring historical photos will tell the story of the Birdwood Mill site and the history of the Museum.
A call for vehicle entries will be sent to Clubs early September.
