Reverse Advent Calendar

Christmas is about joy and hope, so why not bring a little joy and hope to people in need every day until Christmas with our Reverse Advent Calendar. 

COVID-19 has created great need across our society, so if you can contribute, only even in a small way, your assistance will help support worthwhile charities and people doing it tough this Christmas.

Getting the kids involved is a great way to help them think about others in need and to be involved in this lovely process of giving. Your children can even donate a portion of their pocket money which can then be donated online.

Obviously, you can create your own giving calendar or borrow some ideas and mix it up as you need. The process is quite simple – just grab a box, place it under your Christmas tree and every day, add one more thing from your Reverse Advent Calendar to the box which can then be donated.

Day 1:  Buy your Christmas cards online here and the Salvo’s will receive 40c from the sale of each card.

Day 2:  Box of teabags to donate to Foodbank. 

Day 3:  Jar of SA honey to donate to Foodbank.

Day 4:  Tin of fruit to donate to Foodbank.

Day 5:  Tinned tuna to donate to Foodbank.

Day 6:  Jar of jam to donate to Foodbank.

Day 7:   Carton of UHT Milk to donate to Foodbank.

Day 8:   Packet of Pasta to donate to Foodbank.

Day 10:  Tin of spaghetti to donate to Foodbank.

Day 11:  Packet of cereal to donate to Foodbank.

Day 12:  Packet of sugar to donate to Foodbank.

Day 13:  Tinned tuna to donate to Foodbank.

Day 14:  Packet of biscuits to donate to Foodbank.

Day 15:  Jar of vegemite or other spread to donate to Foodbank.

Day 16:  Tin of fruit to donate to Foodbank.

Day 17:  Another packet of Pasta to donate to Foodbank.  **Foodbank drop-off by 19 December 2020

Day 18: Donate some rolled oats to Minton Farm.

Day 19:  Donate a packet of budgie mix to Minton Farm.

Day 20: Set aside an old towel to donate to the RSPCA or Minton Farm.

Day 21:  Buy a gift to leave under the Kmart wishing tree.

Day 22: Donate money to your favourite charity.

Day 23: Buy a gift for a child in emergency care in SA. Click here for more info about Backpacks 4 Kids.

Day 24: Go online and support your favourite cancer charity.

Remember, if you find that you are struggling to find the time to visit organisations to drop off food, you can simply set aside an envelope for your favourite charity and put some money in it, then donate online.
