SALA Festival | 1-31 Aug 2026
SALA is a state-wide annual showcase and celebration of South Australia’s living visual artists. Running for the entire month of August, it is the largest community-based open-access visual arts festival in Australia.
SALA Festival celebrates the work of living South Australian visual artists, regardless of age or experience. It involves exhibitions in venues like galleries, libraries, retail and community spaces, cafes, open studios, along coastlines, at schools, retirement villages, wineries and more. After the success of their online exhibitions in 2020 there are also numerous online exhibitions for people to view without needing to step outside.
2026 Feature Artist
The official 2026 SALA Festival Poster (pictured above) is a detail of ‘Modesty Set 1 (pink and apple green)’ by 2026 Feature Artist Troy-Anthony Baylis.
Born in Sydney in 1976, Troy-Anthony Baylis is a painter, textile artist, installation artist and performance artist. A descendant of the Jawoyn people from the Northern Territory and of Irish ancestry, Baylis’ multi-faceted artistic practice is founded in the process of ‘queering’ and unsettling ‘traditional’ ways of representing Aboriginality.
SALA Program
The 2026 online program, featuring over 700 events, is now live and will allow you to refine your search by venue or artist, plus there are workshops, masterclasses, tours and much more. The printed SALA Program is available from Foodland stores, registered SALA venues, civic centres and visitor information centres across the state.
