Science Magic: Messy Mayhem: Adelaide Fringe 2023 Review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   5 Stars for messy science fun that the kids WILL want to try at home!

Review by Claire Davill

Donal Vaughan presents a kids’ science show stripped of flashy sets, sound effects or music – its just a man on a stage in a lab coat with a table filled with items commonly found around the home. His simple, no-fuss approach makes the show accessible for kids of all ages, and the added bonus is they’ll learn a lot of science along the way.

Donal performs several backyard science experiments, inviting audience members to take part. He explains the science behind each experiment and his engaging humour keeps kids and adults alike captivated through the whole show. Donal has done his homework – he seamlessly weaves Australian and Adelaide facts and references into his banter, and he knows how to get kids giggling –  and adults giggling even more so at many jokes that fly over the kids’ heads.

Almost none of his experiments are “don’t try this at home” – you can try this at home! (with the exception of setting your hand on fire, Donal’s masterpiece finale).

This show is a must-see for kids who love science and mess, and a must-see for kids who think science is boring – Donal will prove them wrong.

Rated G, Science Magic: Messy Mayhem is at The Lark in Gluttony – Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka, Cnr East Tce & Rundle Rd, Adelaide.
