The award-winning Sleep’s Hill Tunnel returns to the Adelaide Fringe in 2025 offering an exclusive opportunity to explore a hidden part of Adelaide’s history.
Wander through this 377-metre long tunnel to discover a spectacle of lights and visuals across the tunnel walls that deliver a narrative of time and place. Be immersed in mesmerising projections and installations that share the tunnel’s history, from its steam train era to mushroom farm years.
Highlights include:
- Collages of newspaper clippings, archive film and historical artefacts supplied by the History Trust of SA and the State Library of SA
- Soil projection piece ‘The World Beneath our Feet’ by The Barbican
- Forest bathing projections of mushroom time lapse footage by Steve Axford, and Cath Marciniak
- Fluorescent ‘Glow in the Dark Mushroom World’ by SA artist, Clare Miyuki Guerin
- An ‘Infinite’ tunnel of mirrors, projections, light and music by Innovation Partner, Novatech
- ‘Transcendent’ drone footage by SA creative production studio, Watchpost.
- The World Beneath Our Feet by Holition with George Monbiot.
NOTE: Please do not just rely on the Google Maps search of ‘Sleeps Hill Tunnel’ as it will take you to the wrong access point. Please ensure you’re following directions to Grandview Crescent, Panorama and follow the event signage – see map HERE for reference.
This is an alcohol-free event. Fire Danger Rating: Please note that in the event of a catastrophic fire danger rating in the Mount Lofty Ranges, sessions will be cancelled. They will notify ticket holders as soon as possible if this happens.
