South Australia Police Gepps Cross Open Day | 19 Apr 2026

South Australia Police will open the doors to its new Gepps Cross precinct for a community Open Day during the April school holidays.

The open day will provide a rare opportunity to explore the purpose‑built home of Mounted Operations, Dog Operations and the Band of the South Australia Police.  Run across two sessions, visitors must register for an hourly time slot within their chosen session. Entry is free, but tickets must be booked online and presented on arrival.

Visitors can expect to see:

  • Police dogs and horses
  • Specialist vehicles, including STAR Operations’ BearCat
  • Water Operations and Traffic vehicles, including a police motorbike, traffic vehicle, boat and jet ski
  • Community engagement displays from Neighbourhood Watch, Recruiting, Police Legacy, the Police Historical Society and Retired Police Dogs of SA
  • Performances by the Band of the South Australia Police

Entry to the event will be via the Briens Road entrance. Parking is available at Roma Mitchell Secondary College and surrounding streets, with a short walk required from parking areas to the site. The precinct covers approximately 1.2 kilometres and includes uneven and hilly terrain. Some areas will be restricted due to operational requirements.

As the precinct is a designated protected place pursuant to Section 63B of the Police Act 1998, security measures (including metal detection) will be in place and attendees must comply with conditions of entry.

Prohibited items include alcohol, weapons, glass containers, fireworks, and other items that may pose a safety risk.

Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and enclosed footwear.
