A $320,000 playground is set to be opened in Thalassa Park in Aberfoyle Park this month, ready for the summer school holidays.
The new playground will be nature play orientated with a tunnel slide, climbing logs, boardwalk and a significant bespoke item from Germany, all designed to keep the kids interested and engaged.
Thalassa Park and Gardens is already extremely popular and boasts a unique history. The name ‘Thalassa’ comes from Ancient Greek, meaning: ‘I see the sea’ or ‘view of the sea’. It was appropriately named, looking west from the park’s highest point, you have a distant view of the district’s sweeping coastline.
Facilities include a BBQ, play equipment, toilets, disabled toilets, shelter, seating/table, walking & cycle tracks and an amphitheatre.
The upgrade is due to be completed by the end of November 2017.
