The Best of Kids Fringe: Adelaide Fringe 2023 Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   5 stars for family fun at the fringe, all in one fabulous variety show!

Review by Jo Parkinson

If you are not sure what to take the kids to this Fringe, look no further! The Best of Kids Fringe show is playing in Gluttony and is exactly what the name suggests. It’s the perfect combination of comedy, circus, and audience interaction, and will have the kids engaged and amazed the whole way through!

Matty is the quick-witted host, and together with his real-life teddy pal they welcome the audience as they take their seats and get the kids amped up and excited for the show. After their initial comedy skit, it’s time for the first of four acts in this variety style show.

The first act impresses, with the performer balancing spinning plates on 8 poles. She really gets the kids involved, as they shout out which plates look like they’re about to fall! It’s a fast-paced fun routine and a great way to start the show.

Next up, is a science-based act that we loved because the experiments are all ones you can try at home. From piercing a bag full of liquid without it spilling, to showing us the way air travels, it certainly had the kids interested in how science works!

The ‘Secret Circus’ was next and was hilarious! The charismatic duo had both the kids and adults laughing at their seemingly improvised jokes. The juggling act they performed showed a high level of skill and the way they worked together was incredibly entertaining.

Lastly, it was a calmer act by Dr. Bubble. With classical music in the background, this silent performer really calmed the audience down and had everyone in awe of the tricks we never knew were possible with bubbles!

Throughout the show, there were lots of opportunities for audience volunteers and the kids loved the fact they didn’t have to sit quietly the whole time. They could laugh and call out and even pop bubbles that came near them. The show ran for an hour, which was just the right amount of time to keep the kids’ attention. We recommend Best of Kids Fringe for kids aged up to 10 years.

The Best of Kids Fringe is a great family show that kids and adults will both enjoy!
