The Marryatville Hotel β Review
The Marryatville Hotel has long been a favourite for families and the main reason for that is the fabulous huge undercover playground. This biggest pub playground brings all the kids to the yard, and happily entertains the kids for a long catch up with friends and family. It’s not new, the playground has been there for quite a long time, but it still does the job.
Back in its heyday families would travel all over Adelaide to dine here because of the great playground and it was packed on the weekends. We first visited circa 2007. Over the years its popularity waned. However, it has just had an upgrade in recent times and unlike some pubs which have removed their playgrounds and replaced them with cinema rooms, The Marryatville has kept this drawcard and we couldn’t be happier. More play and less screens is a bonus.
The playground is located in their beer garden outdoor area which has tables right next to it. If you have younger kids who need supervision, it’s a good idea to book ahead to sit in this area. There are overhead gas heaters if the weather is a bit chilly and it has a totally enclosed roof.
One change to be aware of is this outdoor area is not fully fenced off anymore. Previously there was a safety gate which secured this outdoor area from the car park. Now there is an opening, as there are also tables in the walkway leading up to the entrance, so please be aware of this if you have little ones who might wander off.

Below is a pic of the Kids’ Meal Chicken Schnitzel.
The Marryatville has made it much more affordable now for families with their Kids Menu currently $10 for a meal + $4 for unlimited soft serve (pricing as of October 2021). The Kids Meal Deal includes a meal, the unlimited soft serve plus a Pop Top drink for $15.
Back ‘in the old days’ the unlimited soft serve was a self serve area where you could operate the machine yourself and add toppings. Like the old Sizzler restaurants and Pizza Hut. This was always a highlight for the kids. These days a staff member will fill up your soft serve bowl for you.
