Point Turton Nature Playspace & Bike Track

After works throughout 2017 and 2018, the upgraded Point Turton Nature Playspace is now open.

The Point Turton Progress Association Playground Committee approached the Yorke Peninsula Council in mid-2016 regarding an upgrade/redevelopment of the Point Turton Playground to incorporate natural playspaces and create a playground that is different to all other public playgrounds on the Yorke Peninsula. This wonderful playspace has been developed for the community and visitors to the area. It’s a great addition for families.

Nature play provides many benefits to children’s development, and as the area itself is such a natural environment, the Council was supportive of the Progress Association’s plans for this space.

The playspace concept was developed by Peter Semple Landscape Architects. Landscape Construct got involved with all the big ticket items and the local community and visiting kids from Prince Alfred College put in many hours of volunteer work with the demo of the old playground, moving mulch and planting out the play space.

The upgraded playspace includes the following:

  • Bike track
  • Picnic shelter
  • Play equipment including embankment slide, mound slide, timber frame swing, basket swing, climbing structure, balance logs, hand pump water feature, and sand play
  • Landscaping including deck, canopy, pathways, limestone seating walls and plantings
