A new sensory business has just launched in Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs, and our kids are already obsessed.

Do you have young children who love to get messy, be curious and enjoy sensory-based play? If you found yourself nodding along, you need to hear about Wild & Curious Sensory. Located in Adelaide’s north-east, the business offers incursions, birthday parties, party favours, products and sensory play days. There’s so much to love about this new business!

We recently attended the launch event at the Turramurra Recreation Centre in Highbury, and it was 1.15 hours of pure messy joy! Set up in the crèche room, the event had both indoor and outdoor play areas. When we arrived, we met the lovely owner, Mona, who welcomed us and gave us an overview of the activities on offer.

There were themed stations and trays set up around the room. My daughters are particularly into fairies at the moment and loved the fairy tray, with its little house and small toys to help them build their own fairy-play sanctuary. There was also a construction-themed tray with real sand and a bunch of diggers, cars and cranes, which was very popular! Other activities included a space-themed tray with colourful rice and space toys, a Hungry, Hungry Caterpillar-themed tray, and a soft-play area for smaller children.

Moving on to the messier side of things, there was a foam ice cream sundae station that the kids went nuts for, as well as jelly slime trays filled with sea creatures, flowers and frogs. Outside, there was a painting and crafting station, plus a water-play area complete with brown, chocolate-coloured water made from cocoa powder, corn flour and olive oil!

The launch event sold out very quickly, so the space was buzzing with kids enjoying the different activities. What we loved was how well-spaced the activities were and how eye-catching and engaging they all looked. It kept the excitement going, no matter what the kids were doing. The launch ran for 75 minutes, and honestly, it was hard to drag the kids away, they were having so much fun! We attended with a six- and an eight-year-old, and even though the sensory play days are ideally suited to children aged 0–5, the kids had a ball!

Alongside the play activities, large grazing boxes were provided by Graz’d Co, the owner’s other business. This was a great touch, as the kids devoured the fairy bread, fruit, dips and cheeses on offer. It also gave us a chance to sample the food and see what catering options are available. Both businesses can cater for children’s parties, making them a seamless option for parents who feel overwhelmed by party planning.

Last but not least, we left the event with cute little party bags filled with sensory-play items, including a potion kit and playdough. It was a lovely touch! The kids came home and went straight into the bath, as they had pink hair from the foam and were wearing their messiest clothes. Thankfully, the business uses low-tox products that don’t stain, so everything came out easily. We also had peace of mind knowing the products weren’t toxic.

We had such a great time at the Wild & Curious Sensory launch and would jump at the chance to attend future events. If you missed the launch, there’s another event coming up next month. They’ll also be running weekly sensory play classes at Athelstone and Windsor Gardens, so visit their social media for more information.

We wish this new business every success and know you’ll love it just as much as we did!

What we liked about it:

  • Everything, we loved that this business offers messy, sensory play and that we don’t have to clean up afterwards.
  • We also loved that the trays are taste safe and that this business uses non toxic products.

Things to consider:

  • The event we attended sold out really quickly, we were lucky to grab tickets in time, so we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
