Unleash your inner race car driver and indulge in some family fun in the two-seater karts at Xtreme Karts & Leisure in Evanston South.

Go-karting is exciting, fun and a great way to burn off some energy while testing your skills. It’s also a brilliant way to spend time together as a family. But finding a track where younger children can join in can be tricky. That’s why we were so happy to discover X Karts Xtreme Karts and Leisure, which offers junior karts, adult karts, two-seater karts and driver training.

For Father’s Day this year, we wanted to take my husband and his brother go-karting but somewhere the kids could join in too. After calling around, we found that many places only cater to children aged eight and over. Luckily, X Karts offers two-seater karts: drivers must be 18 or older, while children aged five and up can ride along at no extra cost.

We loved that the whole family could enjoy this experience. The karts are fun to drive, powered by a 9HP petrol motor, and have adjustable steering wheels on both seats so children can get involved. They also felt reassuringly safe, with a four-point harness, roll bar and anti-brake system.

My husband and the kids did two 10-minute sessions and had a fantastic time. With two children, each got a turn, with no extra charge for swapping or taking part. We brought our own balaclavas, but you can buy them at the venue. There are undercover seats and chairs beside the track, so spectators can watch the action in comfort.

The outdoor adult track is six metres wide and 350 metres long, with 10 corners. Two-seater karts use this track, and there’s also a slightly smaller junior track near the front of the premises. It has 10 karts and accepts drivers from age eight.

As well as its tracks and karting experiences, X Karts offers driver training days for enthusiasts aged 12 and up, and you can book the venue for birthday parties. Prices were reasonable (as at September 2026): $35 for the first session, with subsequent sessions costing a little less. Concession prices are available, and the venue sometimes runs specials, which are best checked on its social media pages.

We had a fantastic visit and will absolutely be back. The karts were well maintained, the team were friendly and knowledgeable, and everyone had a great time. We’d recommend X Karts to families and go-karting enthusiasts alike!
