Where Can You Find Bubble Waffles in Adelaide?

Some people may know CocoCane at the Adelaide Central Market for their fruit juices and smoothies, including fresh sugar cane juice. We recently discovered that they also make these delicious Bubble Waffles. The traditional egg puffs waffle originated in Hong Kong as a popular dessert street snack from the 1950s. Originally they were served plain. In recent years they have become popular all over the world with many variations, flavours and toppings.

The Bubble Waffles at CocoCane are served with either ice cream or cream plus your choice of toppings. There are actually options that are less lolly based and include fruit such as strawberries or banana but of course the kids chose the lolly shop options.

The Bubble Waffles are made on a special grill to create the bubble puffs.

Some of the toppings to choose from are Snickers, M&Ms, mini marshmallows, Kit Kat, Oreos, Smarties, nuts, and caramel or chocolate sauce. As mentioned before, strawberries and banana are also options for those who want a slightly healthier version.

Nutella spread over the waffle is also one of the topping options.

Currently the price of the Bubble Waffles are $10 with toppings or $7 plain (pricing as of September 2019).

Here’s a less lolly based one from the CocoCane Facebook page:

CocoCane have a special machine which juices fresh sugar cane and you can get it with different flavours. They make your choice of fresh juices, Acai bowls and smoothies. See the menu below.

The Bubble Waffles are surprisingly not too sickly and light and fluffy. We took our interstate relatives there for a fun morning treat and as you can imagine, it was a big hit!

You can find CocoCane at Shop 31 Central Market Arcade – it’s right near Angelakis Seafood. If you’re walking through the middle of the Adelaide Central Market it’s the last lane where the florist stall is on the corner – turn there and walk towards Gouger Street to find it.

Please note that the stall does not have seating, so be prepared to eat them walking or standing around (like street food). There are some tables available near the stage area where you can sit, but they are often sought after (and some are reserved for the nearby cafe guests).

See the CocoCane Facebook page here for info.
