Crayola Crayons – New Skin Colour Tones Range
Crayola’s new skin colour toned crayons are designed to represent over 40 global skin tones across the world which will allow children to “accurately colour themselves into the world.”
The packs include descriptive colour names such as “light almond,” “deep rose” and “medium golden.” Each crayon label also lists the colour name in English, Spanish and French.
The new range of colours will include 24 shades.
In 2019, Bellen Woodard, a Virginia elementary school student started the “More Than Peach” campaign to bring more multicultural art supplies and awareness to classrooms in the U.S. and Crayola obviously listened.
Crayola CEO Rich Wuerthele stated in a news release:
We want the new Colors of the World crayons to advance inclusion within creativity and impact how kids express themselves.
Crayola’s “Colors of the World” line also includes a colouring book featuring landmarks and characters around the globe. The new products will be available in July 2020 and will be sold exclusively at Walmart in the U.S. Unfortunately there’s no news yet when they’ll be available in Australia. We’ll hopefully see them here soon.
