Help bring Christmas magic to kids in need with Backpacks 4 SA Kids annual Christmas Gift Drive.
For many, Christmas is a time filled with laughter, love, and gift-giving, but for thousands of South Australian children entering care or crisis accommodation this year, Christmas may look very different. The small moments of joy associated with receiving a Christmas gift can mean the world to a child who has been through so much.
The Backpacks 4 SA Kids Christmas Program has officially launched, and they need help to spread more joy, hope, and comfort than ever before. This year, they’re focusing on the two most in-demand, yet often hardest to buy for age groups: babies and teens.
Each gift is wrapped beautifully with ribbon and placed into a Santa Sack to create a special finish. There are x2 toys in each Christmas gift – one of a larger value and a lesser value item to ensure the child receives a few options for fun.
How to Help:
- Rally your workplace, school or community group to collect gifts.
- Buy a gift (up to $40 value) for a child aged newborn to 18 years and drop it at one of the collection points
- Please take note of the specific guidelines: no clothing, books, food, or weapon-style toys and all gifts must be new and unwrapped.

Note that gift donations close Monday 1 December 2025, so the team of elves has time to sort and deliver to kids in all SA regions before Christmas Day.
