Home – Patch Theatre & Restless Dance Theatre | Adelaide Review

By Claire Davill

Patch Theatre in collaboration with Restless Dance Theatre, is back with an innovative show where kids are very much the participants in the story, together with huge, magical creatures. Collaborating with Restless Dance Theatre, kids will be encouraged to use their imagination and consider what it means to belong.

The show consists of several short, imaginative play-based skits in which one child is invited on to the stage to participate.  A knock at the door on stage opens up a new story each time and you never know what will be behind the door.

There are giant props to delight the kids, including huge ears and eyes, caterpillars and one very big snail!

Home, like Patch Theatre’s previous productions, is not your usual kid’s theatre show. It’s immersive and dependent on participation, and for the few kids lucky enough to go up on stage, the experience is thrilling. All children go home with some cute little eyes to make “finger snails”.

Recommended for children aged 4-10 years old, performances for families are being held at the Space Theatre, Adelaide Festival Plaza, and the Hopgood Theatre in Noarlunga.

There are also multiple school performances at the Space Theatre and around the State.
