Glenelg Winter Arts Festival 2023 Gala Night Review
Book now to see live music, stand-up comedians, circus, burlesque, magic and family shows in a heated big-top tent, as well as ticketed workshops for adults and children.

If you’re already counting down the days until the next Adelaide Fringe, then you’re in luck.
A new event has taken over Glenelg’s Colley Reserve, which should well sate you until then – the Glenelg Winter Arts Festival. It’s presented by Gluttony in partnership with the City of Holdfast Bay and Jetty Road.
The reserve’s been transformed into a vibrant arts hub, with an array of performers, musicians, and comedians “bringing heat to the Bay”.
We headed along to the opening night gala show for a taste of the line-up of artists appearing across the two-week festival.
After we’d grabbed some food and drink from the scrummy stalls on-site, we headed into the big-top tent. (Heating below the tiered seating helps fend off the winter chill.)
The emcee on the night was local stand-up Mickey D (who also has his own G-rated show at the festival, Mickey D’s Stand-up Comedy Show for Everyone.)
Acts included the adults-only Red District, who are known for their “devilish dancers and aerial artistry” (mums’ night out, anyone?), and the talented Dr Bubble from the Bubble Show With MiniMilkshake.
Singer Chloe Castledine from Noughties Girl: Hits of Y2K belted out some bangers from the early 2000s, and a performer from Inferno gave us a sample of its sizzling show featuring fire, burlesque, aerial, and dance performers.
Also showing off her pipes was cabaret performer Michelle Pearson from Mixtape: Australia, who’s celebrating Aussie hit-makers in her show, and Leather Lungs who stars in the adults-only Peek, which brings together “salacious and exciting circus and cabaret artists”.
What a night!
Beyond the gala evening, other names set to appear at the fest include comics Rove McManus, Nazeem Hussain, Wil Anderson, Mel Buttle and Peter Helliar, Adelaide media personality Peter Goers, and many more.
Along with the ticketed shows, the festival also boasts fun workshops; undercover spaces in which to eat, drink and gather with friends and family; and on weekends, market stalls and acoustic live music.
