Moon Lantern Trail 2024 | OzAsia Festival | Review

The popular Moon Lantern Trail was held at Tarntanya Wama/Pinky Flat once again in 2024 with both new and favourite lanterns as part of the OzAsia Festival.

Review by Adaire Prosser

On the Torrens Footbridge, the new and improved Hong Kong Dragon lantern takes your breath away with its bright colours and intricate design. The rest of the lanterns are located on the grass at Tarntanya Wama/Pinky Flat.

Adjacent to each lantern is an informative sign post that explains the inspiration behind each design. The artists have done an amazing job, and it was great to see some favourites as well as new designs.

The event was free as part of the OzAsia Festival. With plenty of space to wander among the lanterns in addition to food and drink stalls, it is no wonder it’s such a popular family-friendly event.

If you have young children, you may be inclined to go during the day or afternoon when it is less busy and easier to see. For kids a bit older, the lanterns are stunning all lit up from around 7pm onwards.

The Moon Lantern Trail was held from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 October 2024. If you weren’t able to make it this year, enjoy our photos of the lanterns and mark your calendars for 2025.
