Late to the Party – The ADHD Hour: Adelaide Fringe 2025 Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars for hilarious, relatable cabaret
Review by Lisa Bachmayer
Poignant and raw, yet fun and fabulous – this show is a rollercoaster of emotions, constantly weaving between raucous laughter and the confronting relief of finally feeling understood.
Late to the Party: The ADHD Hour is a humorous cabaret show that hits all the right notes – comedically, emotionally and musically.
Neuro-spicy besties Jessica Bigg and Eliza Dickson take their audience on a crazy ride – both in terms of the show itself and the experience of having ADHD – of neurodivergent traits through a mixture of song, humorous anecdotes and well-chosen video snippets.
Not only does the humour run high and the dialogue hit home, boy can these ladies sing the house down.
Throughout the show, there were spontaneous bursts of laughter, people yelling out “YES!” and tears of understanding, with a standing ovation from a sold-out crowd to finish.
While it’s a humorous cabaret and many of the symptoms of ADHD are dealt with in a fun way – through catchy songs set to the tunes of popular hits – Jessica and Eliza are careful to point out the real challenges people with ADHD face on a daily basis.
But, for one sometimes-confronting yet mostly-hilarious hour, the audience packed into the mezzanine above Plant 4 Bowden get to go on a fun yet safe journey of understanding that may just help us all make friends with our brains.
It might even help you understand your child with ADHD a little better.
This loveable and delightful, two-woman show is a must see for anyone who has ADHD, thinks they might have it or has a loved one who does.
Late to the Party: The ADHD Hour is showing in the Mezzanine at Plant 4 Bowden, with the final show on Saturday 15 March 2025.
