Molly Tea Adelaide | Review
Molly Tea, the popular Chinese tea shop, has opened its first store in Adelaide on Gouger Street in the City.
Inspired by mòli (茉莉), the Mandarin word for jasmine, Molly Tea has become famous for its fragrant jasmine tea drinks. The fast-growing brand has over 2,000 stores worldwide, and after opening stores in Sydney and Melbourne in the last couple of years to queues going down the street, it’s now arrived in Adelaide.

We actually had no idea what to get, so we took advice from the patient staff member taking orders. We decided on the Premium Jasmine Oat Milk and the Pistachio Jasmine Coconut.

After we had ordered, we saw lots of people getting the Snowy Jasmine Milk Tea – it’s piled high with jasmine-infused soft whipped cream and crushed pecan bits sprinkled on top, so we will try that popular one next time. If you order this one, you also get to see the staff add the whipped cream and toppings in front of you when you pick the tea up.

Well, I’ve got to say, after trying the Pistachio Jasmine Coconut, I can see why everyone is talking about Molly Tea. It was genuinely delicious. I went with the standard sugar level, and it was perfectly balanced – not overly sugary and sweet. The jasmine tea flavour was lovely and light, and the whole drink was really smooth and creamy without feeling heavy.

The packaging is super pretty in pink – even the straws are cute. They use their famous “three-hole” straws, which are designed to enhance the aroma and taste of the tea. But you can usually also opt for a classic paper straw.
The store has an upmarket vibe, almost like the Louis Vuitton of milk tea. The Adelaide store is also quite spacious with some limited seating inside.

It’s still very busy, so expect a bit of a wait. It took about 25 minutes from ordering to receiving our drinks on a Saturday afternoon. You can order via their app, use the electronic ordering station, or old-school at the counter.

Alongside the classic Premium Jasmine, Molly Tea also offers drinks with other tea bases such as White Champaca, Oolong, Gardenia and more.
Throughout the year, they also launch new seasonal drinks and special deals, so keep an eye on their Instagram for any announcements.

Location:
62 Gouger Street, Adelaide (where the old shoe store Lana Lang used to be), right near the Adelaide Central Market.
