Barrans Reserve toddler nature play and adventure play area – NEW as at June 2017

Mitcham has a fabulous new toddler playground! Review by Susannah Marks

We went to check out the new nature play and adventure play area that has just been completed at Barrans Reserve in Mitcham. Designed to complement the existing play equipment for bigger kids, this new nature play area is perfect for toddlers and smaller kids. It’s fully fenced and has been designed with a jungle theme for little adventurers to enjoy.

With loads of activities which busy little people will find fun, the newly upgraded Barrans Reserve is a great spot to go with your toddler in tow. We also think it would be a great place to have a jungle themed birthday party.

When you’re on safari it’s really important to have a jeep.

Bigger kids play equipment

The existing bigger kids’ play equipment looks a little tired in comparison but it’s still good fun and provides a few challenges.

Things to consider:

❤️ Sadly there are no toilets, or a drinking fountain

❤️ There’s also some bark chips on the ground, which you will want to keep an eye on if you are worried about your toddler putting them in their mouth.

Coffee and food options nearby?

Sometimes all the effort to pack the bags up and round up the shoes and the hats and the sunblock can be a little tiring, and it’s nice to look forward to a good coffee.

There’s no magical flat-white fairies or coffee truck at Barrans Reserve but it’s around a 10 minute walk (700m) to the Mitcham Square Shopping Centre.

Getting there

❤️ Bike parking

❤️ It’s walking distance from the Mitcham train stop

❤️ You’ll find Barrans Reserve on the corner of Wattlebury Road and Wesley Street, Mitcham
