Supporting our Farmers During the Drought | 2018

Supporting our Farmers During the Drought

By now, you will most likely have read, heard or seen stories describing the terrible drought affecting a significant portion of Australia.

You can see how devastating the extent of the drought is in the Bureau of Meterology’s recent map of Australia highlighting rainfall deficiencies across Australia from April 2018 to July 2018.

The toll on farmers, their families and livestock is devastating and many are currently struggling to feed their families while many do not have enough water for their own needs.

It is also heartbreaking to watch farmers as they speak about the incredible emotional stress placed upon them as they contemplate the loss of income and food for their livestock.

It is so fantastic to see the message getting through to ordinary Australians about just how in need our farmers are. It is equally heartening to see the response of individuals and organisations.

We love our farmers. They are resourceful, hardworking and so resilient. However, they definitely deserve and need our support. We encourage all of you to give what you can to assist our farmers to get through some tough seasons now and ahead.

There are numerous registered charities listed below who are working hard to provide hay and transport of hay to farms, financial support, local food vouchers, counselling and moral support.

You can give to any of these charities to help support our farmers in various ways. Read more about the charities below:

LOCAL WAYS TO HELP

Local businesses are also pitching in. Many pubs are donating money for each parmagiana sold.  For example, the Highway Hotel is doing ‘Parma for a Farmer’ giving $5 for each parmagiana sold during 12 August to 19 August 2018.

Bunnings are dedicating a sausage sizzle on Friday 10 August to the Buy a Bale of Hay cause. See our Facebook posts below.

At Play & Go Adelaide we make every effort to provide accurate information to the best of our knowledge at the time of publication. We recommend confirming times, dates and details directly before making any plans as details may be subject to change.
