Calling all star-gazers and junior astronauts, come and take a tour of the solar system!
Venture to the Adelaide Planetarium, a theatre with a domed-shaped ceiling and a star projector to realistically show the position of constellations, stars and planets. You can almost feel the earth turn as the projector rotates to simulate the motion of the earth’s rotation during the course of the night. One of the Planetarium’s experienced educators will guide you through the solar system before you experience one of the full dome movies.

Planetarium Session – Duration approx 50mins
Including a 20-30min live guided tour of the Night Sky given by one of the experienced educators followed by a full dome movie. Morning session will include the movie Tilt (recommended age 5+), afternoon session will include the movie Astronaut (recommended age 5+)
SciWorld Up Up and Away Workshop – Duration approx 50mins
If you want to be an astronaut, you have to know about air pressure. In this workshop you’ll have fun with balloons! You’ll also learn some clever stuff, like the Bernoulli principle and then you can practice it straight away. You’ll make hovercraft and have a ride on one yourself!
SciWorld Spectacluar Show – Duration approx 50mins
Science is really very cool. Jump into another world and learn all about the cool stuff of science – there’ll be fire, there’ll be big bangs and there’ll definitely be oohs and aahs!
Planetarium & Mars Rover Mission Robotics Workshop
Monday 17 July 2017 | 2pm – 4.30pm
Experience the Planetarium and see the full dome movie Wildest Weather in the Solar System and then code yourself all the way to Mars in this Robotics workshop. You’ll work with the Lego NXT Mindstorm Robots and learn all the coding needed to send yourselves on a Mars Rover Mission.

Astronomy for Kids Course
Thursday 13 July 2017 | 2pm – 4pm
This is an introductory course tailored to kids which is fun and educational!
The course includes the following:
- Explore the stars in our night sky and their stories
- Learn how the Sun and Moon move in the sky and how they affect us
- Understand why the planets are so different from each other
- Learn what stars really are and about some of the very strange ones
- Explore these wonders using the Planetarium and hands on models
