In this, its first Christmas trading period, Rundle Place will set a new benchmark for festive displays with the most magical and sweetest Christmas exhibit in town.
Set to feature a 2m x 1.8m x 1.2m gingerbread house surrounded by huge Christmas baubles, Christmas trees up to 2.4m high and 1.2m high gift stacks all completely covered in brightly coloured wrapped sweets, candy canes and Ferrero Rocher chocolates, the massive exhibit will be on show to the public from 18 November 2013 on level one of the award winning shopping complex.
The display is the creation of UK food artist Prudence Staite who was flown to Adelaide by Rundle Place for the opening of the centre in March and to celebrate the centre’s fashion offer. You may remember she created an incredible life-size walk in closet entirely from chocolate. Now, fresh from creating a life-size tractor from cheese in Ireland, Prudence has returned to wow customers to the shopping centre once again.
We always strive to do something different at Rundle Place to stand out from the crowd and cement our position as an iconic, premium retail experience for our visitors. We loved what Prudence did for our opening with the chocolate closet –which just won us an award for Community Event at the Property Council Retail Awards, and so we decided to invite her back to create this incredible Christmas wonderland for us, said Rundle Place Centre Manager Justin Dangerfield.
The sizes and quantities involved in this amazing display are staggering –
-
2000 gingerbread “bricks”
-
Over 32,000 individually wrapped sweets covering the baubles, gifts and trees – the largest of which features 10,000 sweets
-
Around 1000 candy canes
-
Around 1200 Fererro Rocher chocolates
-
Over 200 chocolate bars
-
40kg of white, milk and dark chocolate

From Monday 18th November 2013, the public will be able to watch Prudence at work on the display (until 30 November 2013). It will then remain on show until after the 12 days of Christmas (until 5 January 2014) except for the Ferrero Rocher covered Christmas 1.2m high tree which will be given away on 24 December 2013 via a social media promotion.
