Aladdin and the Genie of Unlimited Wishes: Adelaide Fringe 2023 Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars for the wonderful cast of up and coming young dancers

Review by Sharon Harrington

Talented budding young ballerinas, colourful exotic costumes and delightful music… The SA Children’s Ballet Company (SACBC) returned to the Adelaide Fringe this year with Aladdin and the Genie of Unlimited Wishes, a perfect introduction to ballet for young children.

With a performance duration of 45 minutes and a narrator to guide the audience through the story, this show is tailored to keep young ones engaged throughout.

This version of the Aladdin story follows Aladdin as he searches for the magic lamp, which he will use to save the Kingdom from an unbearable drought and gain the attention of the charming Princess Jasmine.

Children will love the beautiful dance sequences with swirling colourful scarves, the whirlwind of a performance from the genie (who stole the show for my little 6 year old!) and of course the wedding of Aladdin and Jasmine.

The SACBC productions are a lovely opportunity to support up and coming local talent aged between 10-19 years old, as well as provide inspiration for your own mini dancers at the same time!

The season for Aladdin at the Adelaide Fringe was short and sweet with only two showings; however, keep your eyes open for other performances, as they perform regularly throughout the year.
