Australian Dance Theatre: North/South
Presented by Australian Dance Theatre in association with Adelaide Festival Centre.
In an extraordinary double bill from two highly acclaimed choreographers, Ina Christel Johannessen and Garry Stewart, Australian Dance Theatre (ADT) dancers traverse the faraway corners of the Arctic Circle and Antarctica.
From Norwegian choreographer Johannessen, North explores the intimate and powerful exchange that plays out between humans and their environment. Stewart’s South depicts Sir Douglas Mawson’s fateful and dramatic journey to Antarctica in 1913 as an allegory for our current predicament in the era of rapid global warming.
Performed by the phenomenal dancers of ADT, North/South is a unique artistic experience centred around one of the most significant issue of our times.
Suitable for ages 12 and up. Warning: Strobe lighting, haze effects, some nudity.
