Burnside Council Library Toy Library & Family Friendly Cafe

Toy libraries are a fabulous economic way to have a constant supply of different toys at home. Do you find that your kids often only play with a toy for a week or two (or even just ten minutes)? Rather than buy a houseful of different toys to keep their interest all the time, save money and disappointment by borrowing them from a council toy library.

The Burnside Council Toy Library is a great example of the wonderful quality toys you can borrow. There are toys for all different ages from baby toys, ride-ons, blocks, to puzzles for older children and adults.

An additional highlight of the Burnside Library is the great family-friendly cafe at the front. There is a cute little fully fenced playground for toddlers right beside the outdoor tables and chairs. It’s perfect for a coffee, snack or lunch while your child plays in the playground.

This is a great spot to have a catch up with a friend after Baby Chat, Storytime or other library events. Please note that events may be cancelled if restrictions are in place – it’s always best to check with libraries directly and pre-booking may be necessary.

The playground receives shade from an awning and nearby tree at certain times of the day. It has a safe soft fall surface and no bark chips.

The fencing is a nice safe tall height as well – it’s not one of those short ones that a tall 4 year old can open by themselves.

Currently, there is a piano just outside the playground area where you are invited to play a tune.

Following the family-friendly vibe, inside the cafe, there is a small kids’ table and chairs set right beside a sofa. This is in addition to the table and chairs.

If you’ve just hired toys from the library, the kids will probably be excited to play with them and they could do so in the playground or in the cafe to keep them happy, while you enjoy a coffee.
