The Butterfly Effect Program for Young Girls in Schools
Enlighten’s Butterfly Effect program helps transform young girls into thinking, confident young women, covering topics such as positive friendships, conflict resolution, positive body image, gratitude, staying safe, resilience, and self-esteem.
Their workshops build a sense of belonging and connection and provide tools and resources for navigating their journeys, encouraging positive thinking to lift self-esteem. They provide a positive, engaging range of experiences that ignite long-lasting learning.
Their programs and workshops offer balance and critical thinking skills – Enlighten encourages girls to reach their own conclusions and to know their own minds. Also strategies – it’s important to teach young people what to do to respond resiliently to the world we live in.
The feedback received from schools and students is a testament to the true success of their programs:
“After this, I feel really confident about myself. It has been amazing and it’s so important that all girls know about this. My favourite part was everything, because I have learnt so much about society and about myself, and how I can be the best me”.
“It opened up some emotions about sensitive topics, and it made me feel happy and safe. I learnt how to deal with issues, to be more confident, and know I’m beautiful the way I am”
“I thought today would be boring, but it was the opposite. It made me feel supported/confident and helped sort some of the problems I am feeling in my life”
“My favourite was Forever Friends because I have learnt many strategies to deal with friend conflict. Today made me feel better about myself and the way I am in my body”.
“Today was better than I imagined. It made me feel powerful and like I’m not alone. It helped me interact with old friends and other people I’m not close with. I enjoyed talking about Loving the Skin I’m In, because I know I’ve been struggling to find the confidence lately, and it’s definitely going to help me to stop comparing myself to other people”
“We absolutely love the positive impact our Enlighten programs have on young girls – so vital during these years!!
Enlighten days are interactive and insightful as well as fun. They use interactive activities, working in groups, sharing their thoughts and their worries. Their phenomenal presenters connect and engage, and the girls come away much more bonded as a group. They feel special, they’re given tools and resources they can use in real life and continue to use not just on the day, or the year, but throughout their whole journey.
School can be exciting, but also challenging as students learn to traverse new situations with different expectations. They need to learn to be more independent, experts with timetabling and study routines, and confident enough to form new friends and somehow fit into new peer groups. For many students, this can be quite a traumatic experience.
There are over 10 workshops to choose from:
- Girl World
- Love the Skin You’re In
- Stop I Don’t Like It
- Forever Friends
- Gratitude
- Real Girl Power
- Chill Out
- What to Pack and more….
Wherever they look, teenage girls are bombarded by messages about what to eat, how to act, how to look, how to please someone and how to be liked. Popular culture, TV programs, magazines, movies and websites dispense information and so-called “advice” to girls at a critical time in their development when they are still in the process of forming their own attitudes.
Enlighten Education provides a positive, engaging range of experiences that girls enjoy from start to finish,
“We know that the Enlighten Education experience has been amazing for the many thousands of girls we have been privileged to work with each year, and can be for your school too.
If you feel your daughter could benefit from our amazing workshops, pass our information on to your school/teacher, we would be happy to follow up and provide further information. We are also approached by many P & F Committees, Council’s and Community Programs, to book our workshops.”
An important message about the impact of COVID-19 on young people in Australia
This year has been unlike any other for young people in Australia. Students have been in a very unique phase, and this situation is only one of the changes and challenges students face. How we work and support them to face these challenges and to thrive is critical for their confidence, their growth and their resilience.
Student morale may be at low, many teens need support to reconnect with their friends and re-establish a sense of unity, and teachers are longing to be able to call on expertise rather than trying to manage all their student welfare needs alone. Certainly, schools are telling us they need our wonderful Enlighten programs now more than ever.
