Catlin on Magill | Family Friendly Urban Cellar Door

Catlin on Magill – Family Friendly Urban Cellar Door

Got any plans for Sunday? Grab the kids and a couple of friends and head to 563 Magill Road, Magill for a wine or two.  Even the family dog is welcome.

Catlin Wines was established as a wine label in 2013 and Catlin on Magill opened in late 2022 after finally finding a place to call home amongst the newly updated ‘Magill Village’ precinct.  This ‘Urban Cellar Door’ is a welcoming, relaxing space to wind down and meet up with family and friends, be it for a quick catch up or long, lazy afternoon. The converted warehouse has been fitted out with vintage finds of mid century furniture and retro art to create a homely, comfortable place with a chilled vibe and plenty of room to spread out.

Catlin on Magill offers tasting flights served with cheese, meats and Taralli, wines by the glass or bottle, plus beer, cider and soft drink. Grazing platters and toasties are available to order.

Once you’ve ordered your drinks, you can choose from a variety of seating options including tables and chairs, bar stools or sink into a cozy couch or armchair.

The pub sized pool table is always open – just 40c per game with proceeds donated to charity.

There is a well stocked games cupboard with plenty of old fashioned games for the kids to play, ideal for toddlers and pre-schoolers like connect 4, noughts & crosses and colouring in.  The space is very pram friendly too.

Tweens, teens and adults can challenge each other in games like Scrabble, Chess or Mastermind or play a game of cards.

Owner and winemaker Darryl Catlin produces handcrafted, single vineyard quality wines based in the Adelaide Hills.  Along with wife Georgie, two daughters and winery dog Harvey, this small family business has created a unique experience just 8 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD.

From their cellar door they also offer takeaway sales, wine gift packs and gift vouchers. If you’re looking for an event venue for a private function you are welcome to make an enquiry to see what they can offer.

Opening Hours:

  • Fridays: 4pm – 9pm
  • Sundays: 12pm – 5pm

Message for a reservation if you prefer to book a table or walk-ins are welcome.  There is limited parking at the rear, or park on one of the side streets a short walk away.

About Catlin Wines:

In just a few short years, Catlin Wines has already established a strong reputation for high quality wines, with a number of trophies, medals and high ratings from well-respected wine writers. James Halliday named Catlin Wines as one of the “Top 10 Best New Wineries” in his 2016 Wine Companion.

Grapes are sourced from premium vineyards around the Adelaide Hills, as well as some small parcels from the Clare Valley. The wines are gently processed at the Winery in Nairne. With a preference for wild ferments and minimal intervention, each wine becomes an expression of the local terroir – the best representation of what can be achieved from that individual, selected vineyard.
