Christmas at the Adelaide Showground Farmers Market

Christmas at the Market every Sunday – Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market December Program.

For families wanting to shop with less waste and more meaning this Christmas, the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market is a good place to start. Throughout November and December, the market is filled with South Australian growers and producers offering fresh, seasonal food, handmade gifts and locally made drinks — all brought in with a lighter footprint and a direct benefit to farming families.

Add in weekly activities, live music and a friendly Sunday atmosphere, and you’ve got a calmer, more local way to prepare for the festive season — one that’s better for the planet, supports local growers and comes without any fuss.

On Sunday 21 December 2025, shoppers can pick up their pre-ordered hams, cherries, cheeses, Christmas gin and more, straight from the people who grow, raise, bake and make it.  The market keeps trading right through the festive season, including Sunday 28 December, so you can restock for New Year gatherings or holiday visitors or for the family getaway.

If you’re after fresh food for the Christmas table, something to keep the kids busy, or just a relaxed morning among local producers, the Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market is the place to shop.

FREE Ham Bag Giveaway – Pre-Orders Open Now

Market Gifts & Christmas Ideas (All December)

With more than 100 stallholders, you’ll find plenty of thoughtful, handmade and small-batch gifts such as boxed biscuits, jams and preserves, Christmas puddings, local gins, small-batch wines and beers, fresh flowers, potted plants and other beautifully made food gifts you simply won’t find in the big shops.

They’ve also got a new Jute Market Chill Bag, which makes it easy to build your own hamper. Fill it with your favourite market finds and you’ve got a gift that’s practical, local and reusable long after Christmas. Many stallholders offer items that are already boxed or wrapped, so putting together something special is simple.

The quartet will again fill the pavilion with music from 9am–11.30am, adding a little extra warmth and atmosphere to the morning.

SUNDAY 21 DECEMBER 2025

The last Sunday before Christmas is one of the biggest and best mornings at the market. Stallholders bring in the very best of the season — cherries and berries, summer stone fruit, seafood, Christmas roasts, handmade bakery treats, cheeses, fresh bread, flowers for the table and all the little extras you suddenly realise you need. It’s also the day to collect your pre-orders, including hams, puddings and gift boxes, and if you’ve pre-ordered a Christmas ham you can pick up your free Market Locavore Ham Bag at the same time.

Rotary Adelaide Central will be on the barbecue raising funds for drought relief, and live carol singers will be wandering the market adding a bit of Christmas cheer as you shop. It’s a relaxed, festive atmosphere — the kind of morning where you bump into neighbours, stop for a chat and soak up the season.

There are plenty of last-minute gifts straight from local makers, and if you’re still hunting for a Kris Kringle or something for the food lover in your life, a 2026 Market Membership is a simple, thoughtful option. It’s the kind of gift that keeps giving — to the recipient, to our farmers and to the community you’re part of.

SUNDAY 28 DECEMBER 2025

A Slower Summer Market – Perfect for New Year Shopping

The post-Christmas market has a different rhythm that is smaller, quieter and more relaxed, with a mix of indoor and outdoor stalls. Many stallholders take a well-earned break at this time of year, but plenty will still be there with the fresh summer produce and essentials you need for New Year gatherings or a trip away.  You’ll find berries, stone fruit, greens, baked goods, cheeses, meats, flowers, cold drinks and plenty of easy options for simple holiday meals. You can also pick up local beer, wine, gin and other South Australian drinks for New Year’s Eve celebrations or for packing into the esky before you head off on holidays.  It’s a good morning to wander slowly, grab breakfast, top up the fridge and shop without the Christmas rush. It’s one of the nicest markets of the year and a great chance to chat with the stallholders who’ve stayed on through the holiday season.
