South Australia’s Coast is Calling Dining Cashback program is designed to support coastal hospitality businesses impacted by the algal bloom this summer.

Summer is Australia means warm days and nights by the sea, fish and chips at the beach and ice cream treats on repeat!  Following on from the successful Coast is Calling travel vouchers, they are now calling on South Australians to support local and dine out along the coast from late spring, throughout summer and into autumn.

A total of 300,000 South Australians will be given the opportunity to receive a 50% cash-back, to a maximum value of $50, at participating coastal dining locations across South Australia.*

Public ballot opens: 12.01am (ACDT), Monday 3 November 2025

First draw: Monday 10 November 2025

First draw dining period: Monday 10 November – Sunday 7 December 2025

Second draw: Monday 1 December 2025

Second draw dining period: Monday 1 Dec 2025 – Thursday 1 January 2026

Third draw: Friday 2 January 2026

Third draw dining period: Friday 2 January – Saturday 31 January 2026

Fourth draw: Sunday 1 February 2026

Fourth draw dining period: Sunday 1 February – Saturday 28 February 2026

Fifth draw: Sunday 1 March 2026

Fifth draw dining period: Sunday 1 March – Tuesday 31 March 2026

How it works:

Step 1:

Enter the public ballot (online)

If you are a winner, you will receive a unique cashback code, as well as instructions to claim your cashback, plus a list of participating business.

If you are not a winner, you will be automatically entered into the next draw unless you opt out.

Step 2:

Enjoy a meal at a participating business and pay your transaction in full.

Most importantly, retain a Tax Invoice for your transaction.

Step 3:

Redeem your cashback by visiting southaustralia.com/diningcashback & upload a copy of your Tax Invoice (scan/photo). You’ll also need to enter some transaction details, your nominated bank details and cashback code.

Cashback will be paid to your nominated bank account.

Eligible hospitality businesses can register to participate in the program from Monday 20 October 2025, via a simple one-form process. Business registrations will remain open throughout the course of the program.

The naturally occurring algal bloom is affecting many coastal areas in South Australia, which has had a serious impact on marine life and the industries that rely on it, including hospitality, fishing, aquaculture and tourism.

The Coast is Calling Dining Cashback program is being delivered by the South Australian Tourism Commission and will form part of the State Government’s Algal Bloom Summer Plan, co-funded by the Commonwealth Government.

Successful Dining Cashback recipients will be sent a listing of the participating businesses.

ROUND 2 The Coast is Calling travel vouchers key dates

South Australians can access daily algal bloom reports on their smartphones as part of a plan to keep beach users informed across the summer months.

Beachsafe App

The free Beachsafe app, and companion website Beachsafe.org.au, is part of the State and Federal governments’ Algal Bloom Summer Plan and will provide South Australians with easy-to-understand information to help make informed decisions about how best to enjoy the beach.
