Easter Holiday Play Streets – 1000 Play Streets Program
There’s nothing like closing the street for some playtime to bring your neighbourhood together.
The City of Onkaparinga are planning ahead for Easter time and are keen to hear from Onkaparinga residents that would like to host their own neighbourhood get together. As an idea, the kids can take part in an Easter egg hunt while adults enjoy hot cross buns and a cuppa as part of the new ‘1000 Play Streets’ program.
How will it work?
The council will work with residents to close their quiet residential street for a short period of time as part of the ‘1000 Play Streets’ program. They can assist with the planning, arrange road closure permits, cover public liability, ensure COVID safe practices are considered as well as providing sporting equipment and giveaways for the children.
1000 Play Streets is a Play Australia initiative designed to reclaim quiet residential streets across Australia as places for neighbours of all ages to connect and play regularly, and to ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
Sessions run for approximately two hours and include the use of sporting equipment such as bats, balls, hula hoops and skipping ropes.
You only have until Monday 14 February 2022 to get your applications in.
