Emergency Services Technology Expo
The Emergency Services Technology Expo will showcase a range of technologies currently used by the SA Country Fire Service, SA State Emergency Service, SA Metropolitan Fire Service and Volunteer Marine Rescue.
In line with Government directives and to reduce the impact of COVID-19, the Emergency Services Technology Expo scheduled for 2 April 2020 has been postponed. A new date is yet to be set, so keep an eye on their social media channels for future updates.
It will also showcase technologies emerging locally and nationally that could improve service delivery and community safety outcomes into the future.
The displays, demonstrations and interactive experiences will include:
- Remote piloted aircraft
- Search dog demonstrations
- Marine rescue boat
- Automatic vehicle location
- Thermal imaging cameras
- Urban search and rescue (USAR) equipment
- Resilience building ‘gaming’
- Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) equipment
- Communications vehicle and equipment
- Aerial firefighting vehicle and vehicle crew protection systems
- SES floating car/flood demonstration
- SES sand trailer demonstrating flood path
- What it will be like to be a CFS or SES volunteer in 2030
The expo is aimed at members of the community (16 years +) with an interest in emerging technologies and potentially volunteering.
In particular Year 11 and 12 students who are studying related SACE and STEM subjects, and university students in science related disciplines. Related volunteering groups such as Scouts, Guides, Surf Life Saving and Ambulance cadets are also encouraged to attend.
