Nature Photographer of the Year 2024

Calling All Junior Photographers!

Does your child have a passion for photography? Maybe they’d like to enter their pics in the 2024 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year competition.

Owned and produced by the South Australian Museum, the competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers of any age so it’s a great opportunity for budding junior photographers to showcase their talent.

Junior photographers need to be under 18 years old when entries close on 6 February 2024. They can submit up to four photos that fit the criteria of any of the competition’s nine categories, ranging from Animals in Nature to Landscapes. For the full category list visit the competition website. The Junior Category winner takes home $500 with the runner up winning $250.

Plus, all of the finalist entries will be included in a two-month exhibition displayed at the South Australian Museum where the stunning beauty of our natural world is showcased, with professional, emerging and junior photographers alike showing impeccable timing and patience to capture superb moments in time. So what are you waiting for? Send the kids outside to get snapping!

Entries close at 5pm ACDT on Friday 6 February 2024.

The exhibition featuring winners and shortlisted finalists will be held at the South Australian Museum from 28 August 2024, before touring nationally.
