Erth’s Prehistoric World – DreamBIG Children’s Festival

As part of DreamBIG Children’s Festival for one weekend only, see the prehistoric creatures of your imagination come to life on stage with this enchanting show from world-renowned Erth Visual and Physical.

Review by Claire Davill

The Erth crew create an amazing, immersive world on stage with expert puppetry and use of light (and lack there-of).

Starting way back at the Ediacaran, micro organisms float and swim through the dark, followed by angler fish and plesiosaurs. The lighting makes the whole stage feel like you’re under water, and you often forget that there are puppeteers behind the amazing creatures.

Moving forward in time, dinosaurs and giant insects emerge, flying over and through the audience, while dinosaurs wander across the stage and interact with the puppeteers and lucky kids who are selected for audience participation.

The show is extremely educational, with facts aplenty, all in a format that kids can understand. Lots of the dinosaurs in particular are Australian dinosaurs, and we learn about who discovered their fossils and where.

The introduced dinosaurs get bigger – and louder – culminating in a visitor that is so big that she can’t even fit on the stage!

The whole show is visually spectacular and had kids of all ages enthralled from start to finish. The puppets are amazing to see, and the crew blend seamlessly into the background to create an other-wordly experience that is sure to impress everyone.
