Family Bike Ride and Nature Play Afternoon
Enjoy the outdoors in autumn with an afternoon of nature play and a gentle family bike ride.
The Family Bike Ride includes a ride along the Sturt River Trail from Warriparringa Wetlands to Oaklands Wetland and back. It will kick off with a Kaurna Welcome to Country and cultural walk led by Kaurna Elder and retired educator Auntie Suzanne Russell.
Along the way there will be various nature play activities for the children brought to you by Nature Plays SA including tinkering and potions plus whittling with wood.
FAQs for the event:
I’m not confident on a bike. Can I still attend?
The organisers recommend all adults and children attending are reasonably comfortable riding a bike. However, this will be an easy ride and the route will be entirely on off road paths. Participants will only travel a short distance and will be going at a relatively slow pace to allow for children.
Are there age requirements to attend the event?
Children aged 6 and over can attend. The nature play activities are suitable for children aged 6-12 years. All children must have a reasonable level of confidence in riding a bike so they can keep up with the group.
What should I bring into the event?
Each attendee must bring their own bike (in good working order with pumped up tyres), a helmet, water and sun/weather protection. Snacks are optional.
What if there is wet weather on the day?
The organisers will monitor the weather forecast and notify participants by phone the day before if the event has to be cancelled. If you do not hear from them you can assume the event is going ahead.
Tickets are $5 per person.
Bookings for this event close on Tuesday 30 April 2019.
