ferris wheel Glenelg

If you are looking for something special to do with your kids to signify the start of the Summer school holidays, set your sights on the sky and ride the MIX 102.3 Giant Ferris Wheel!

Review by Angelica-Hazel

Glenelg is the perfect destination for family fun and the Giant Ferris Wheel is an iconic attraction that will be sure to get your heart racing. Located on the Glenelg foreshore taking prime position at the end of Moseley Square, the Ferris Wheel provides spacious gondolas to accommodate a party of six. Once in the sky riders can experience the most breathtaking ocean and city views at a pace that is just enough to give you butterflies but not too taxing that it will frighten small children.

We visited over the weekend with a group of two adults and five kids between us and poured into two side by side gondolas. Not only was the entire lead up to the ride filled with dancing, screams and anticipation, two days later the kids are still recounting their experience. We made our way to the big wheel after an easy dinner on Jetty Road and managed to time our visit for just before sunset. This is an ideal time to take to the skies as the changing colours make the ride feel even more magical and as the sun is still up you still have the warmth of the day. The kids loved seeing their friends on the gondola next door, waving to them and each lap they did a happy dance as they didn’t want it to end.

After disembarking from the Ferris Wheel we played on the grass, visited the foreshore playground and then coaxed them towards Bottega Gelateria with promises of sweet treats. All in all it was a perfect way to spend an evening and an incredible start to the Summer school holidays.

The MIX 102.3 Giant Ferris Wheel in Glenelg is open daily from October until May. Book your tickets here
