Giant Wombat (Diprotodon) Naming Competition

Help name the Giant Wombat (Diprotodon) which will be installed at the upgraded Cormorant Drive Reserve playground in Hallett Cove and go in the draw for a prize pack from the South Australian Museum.

Cormorant Drive Reserve has an interesting history with a Diprotodon (Giant Wombat) fossil remains found in the area in 1992. This Australian megafauna was the world’s largest marsupial and lived between 150,000-10,000 years ago. The playground will have an exciting and educational Diprotodon installation, making it a truly unique reserve. The City of Marion are giving one lucky winner the opportunity to name the Diprotodon, plus a prize pack.

The prize will consist of:

  • The Giant Wombat being named by the winner
  • A behind the scenes tour for the winner and one guest of the South Australian Museum palaeontology collection
  • One family pass to see the latest exhibition RELICS: A New World Rises – open daily until 23 July 2023
  • Diprotodon merchandise pack from the Museum Shop

The competition ends on Sunday 11 June 2023 at 11:59pm.
