Glendi Greek Festival | Adelaide | 23-25 Mar 2018

Glendi Greek Festival celebrates it’s 40th birthday at Victoria Square.

Glendi is an annual festival that celebrates all things Hellenic and is arguably one of the original ‘food and wine’ festivals in South Australia. 2018 is a milestone year for Glendi as it will mark its 40th anniversary.

The Festival celebrates the contribution Hellenic migration has made to South Australia and the opportunities South Australia has provided migrants and their families. Glendi’s objective is to deliver a weekend of family fun; combining food, entertainment, art, culture and education for all the community to enjoy. In doing so, its aim is to raise funds and distribute back into the community.

For more than 30 years of its 40 year history, Glendi was held in March – and as a ‘one-off’ Glendi will again feature in March to commemorate the 40th anniversary; Friday 23, Saturday, 24 and Sunday 25 March 2018 (with 25 March also coinciding with Greek Independence Day).

To coincide with Glendi’s 40th birthday, the event will be held in Victoria Square – Adelaide’s premier outdoor event space in the heart of the City and the event will be FREE to attend in 2018.

Food

Glendi is synonymous with food.  This year will be no exception with a variety of stallholders offering an extensive selection of mouth-watering foods and sweets.

Market

Have you visited Monastiraki; Athens’ famous market? Whether it be something for the home or something for you, be sure to visit Adelaide’s own Monastiraki at Glendi 2018.

Entertainment

Glendi has consistently delivered a fantastic entertainment offering over the years.  2018 will be no exception with many acts and performances planned – and something for everyone to enjoy.

After work on Friday evening presents a great opportunity to come along to Victoria Square, Adelaide’s premier outdoor event space, and share a drink and a bite to eat with friends.

Saturday and Sunday will be focused on family – with lots for everyone to see and do.  And it wouldn’t be a Greek ‘party’ without live Greek music.  There will be local Greek bands throughout the day and in the evening, direct from Greece,  Nikos Kourkoulis and his band will deliver a 2 1/2 hour concert showcasing the best of Greek music.

Culture

Discover the richness of Hellenic history at the Centennial Park  Culture Marquee where Glendi will take you on a journey of old and new. In addition to the numerous displays, there will be presentations (talks) over the weekend. Topics will be announced closer to the event. Local artists will also be displaying their works in the culture marquee.

Free Entry all Weekend.
