Golden Fields Reserve Adventure Playground | Golden Grove | Review

Golden Fields Adventure Playground

The new adventure playground at the extensive Golden Fields Reserve provides a jaw-dropping pair of climbing towers, the longest twisty slide we’ve seen, and lots of other equipment to challenge and entertain kids. There’s now a huge water play and sand pit areas as well.

The two climbing towers dominate the playground, with four levels on each tower filled with climbing ropes and platforms. There are three slides accessible from various levels and ladders, climbing walls and a fireman’s pole as well.

The two towers are connected by a fully enclosed mesh tunnel, high up in the air for the more adventurous kids.

The climbing nets contain lots of slings, platforms and other rest stops which helps when kids get tired climbing all the way to the top. These also help kids move out of the way when other kids are moving up or down in the towers – this playground is rightfully very popular, and the towers can get a bit crowded!

Several other attractions surround the main equipment. There are a few in-ground trampolines, a large springy platform with twisty poles to hang on to, and a see-saw that rotates.

The two swings here have super long ropes, allowing for big, sweeping, high swings. They were very popular with all the kids present when we visited.

There is also a fun rope log swing, suitable for group play.

A huge flying fox sits alongside the main playground, with a platform at the top for easy mounting. The flying fox doesn’t move too fast, but there is a bit of recoil at the bottom, so make sure kids hold on tight!

The playground includes a large picnic shelter area, elevated above a small retaining wall so parents can see over the whole playground area. There are also some wooden stepping stones from here down to the playground.

As of November 2024, there is now a large water play area in the amphitheatre next to the main playground. This is a fantastic addition, with three taps, multiple water channels, gates and a big sand pit.

The channels run between landscaped rocks and sand, providing plenty of opportunities to create dams and bridges.

The sandpit is deep and sits at the bottom of the water play area. There are a few old Tonka trucks for additional sand play.

There are several benches for sitting around the edge of the playground, plenty of rubbish bins, a drinking fountain and fully accessible toilet nearby.

The playground is not shaded – the equipment is too tall! The new water play area is also in full sun. Make sure you bring sunscreen on sunny days. The playground is also not fenced, but is a large distance from any roads and partially shielded from the car park by trees and landscaping.

Golden Fields Reserve has several facilities within walking distance of the new adventure playground. Just up the hill there are several pieces of exercise equipment and three large, older playgrounds to explore. There is also a skate park/bmx track near the top of the hill.

The playground is nestled in the centre of this large reserve, accessible via a driveway from Asgard Drive with a nice big car park.
