Each year on the Sunday of the October Long Weekend Goolwa Traders close the main street in Goolwa for a Street Festival showcasing local produce, businesses and talent. It’s a fun day out for the entire family with live music, pony rides, face painting, food & wine, craft fair, Cittaslow Expo and much more. An estimated 12,000 people attended the event in 2012.
The Goolwa Alive event links with the birthday celebrations of the river boat PS Oscar W & the Steam Ranger train’s “Steam to Steam” experience. Approximately 40 traders in Cadell & Hay Streets, Railway & Goolwa Terraces will be open during the day and there will be food food from the Fleurieu to suit every taste. Entertainment includes live music throughout the day and informative Emergency Services demonstrations. Children’s entertainment will include Miss Trixie, the Magical Fairy, who will be performing her magical tricks for the children in the play area at the park behind the Goolwa Hotel along with a Jumoy Castle jumping castle.
