GROUNDED: A new pop up precinct for kids and their adults | Review
GROUNDED was a new pop-up precinct set up in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga for the Adelaide Fringe 2018. For two weeks the venue played host to international theatre, free film screenings, creative workshops, interactive installations and a music festival. There were plenty of local food options and beverages on offer, including a fabulous concept – the SA Water ‘Quench Bench’ explaining about tap water and where you could fill up your water bottle for free!
Food vendors included Adixions Cakes, The Deli, Sunshine Ice Blocks, Moorish Bites and InCafe. There were also kids mocktails available at the bar.
Easy to access with the tram near by as well as buses, GROUNDED was well worth the visit with not only their choice of ticketed events, but free entertainment and activities such as weaving, story telling and the impressive Megaphone Project – an interactive collection of different size and shaped megaphones for kids to play with. There is of course the permanent water feature at the Northern end too where kids love to play on a hot day!
GROUNDED has closed for year’s Fringe, but hopefully this venue returns for the 2019 Fringe season.
