HEXADECA | Moseley Square Glenelg | 10-26 Jul 2026

HEXADECA Moseley Square Glenelg
HEXADECA is an interactive music making playground installation, coming to Glenelg’s Moseley Square from 10 – 26 July 2026.

Everyone is invited to take a seat and spin at HEXADECA, an interactive light and sound installation. Become the musical conductor as you spin, with special sensor technology triggering a captivating display of music, lights and movement for visitors of all ages.

People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to engage with the seats however they see fit – whether it’s finding a spot to sit and enjoy, spinning the seats to activate sound, or observing as interaction dictates which singular elements of a whole musical score are heard.

How it works:

  1. Music is made
  2. Music is split into 16 parts
  3. Each 1/16 of music is assigned to a seat
  4. Someone comes along and spins a seat. This triggers one part of the music to play
  5. When every seat is spinning, the whole track is heard

HEXADECA was commissioned by WOMADelaide and premiered in the 2022 festival to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Since then, it has toured across the country to festivals, town squares and public spaces.

Created by Adelaide-based design studio, Pulsing Heart, HEXADECA encourages indulgent play, regardless of your physical ability, age or culture. Pulsing Heart is a South Australian creative studio redefining participatory art through making and touring large scale installations, referred to as “BIG ART”. Their whimsical projects become the beating heart of public spaces, inviting participation and play regardless of ability, age or culture.
