The existing Adelaide Aquatic Centre is permanently closed to make way for a new world class facility, scheduled to open in the summer of 2025/2026.
The new Adelaide Aquatic Centre will provide a contemporary and multi-purpose community offering with a range of programs and services including new landscaped surrounds, a café, water play areas, waterslides, a lagoon pool and fitness facilities. New pools will cater for rehabilitation, lap swimming, club sports, entry level diving, school carnivals and learning to swim.
Due for completion in the Summer of 2025/26, the all-electric building will have a reduced environmental footprint including timber structure and water sensitive urban design. The language and story of water is expressed as a cultural narrative in the building form and public realm including the water play experiences and choice of materials that connect us to place.
New Centre Features:
- 50m, 10-lane indoor pool for swimming carnivals, water sports and recreational use
- 25m, 8-lane outdoor pool
- Dedicated indoor warm water rehabilitation pool
- Dedicated indoor learn to swim pool
- Lagoon outdoor pool
- Entry level diving amenities which can also be used to perform a range of diving styles including bombing
- Indoor leisure water with splash zones and waterslides, spa, sauna and steam room
- Outdoor splash pad with waterplay
- Outdoor aquatic zone with BBQs and lawned areas
- Café available for both centre visitors and other Park 2 users
- Gym and fitness facilities three times the size than first planned
- Inclusive amenities and changerooms
- Improved car parking with access from Jeffcott Street
- Improved pedestrian and cycle pathways connecting the centre with existing networks.
