Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever β High School.
Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael PeΓ±a) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold was a cute family-fun movie packed with action and adventure. The main theme was positive and about always staying true to yourself, along with the importance of friends and family.
Going in I wasnβt too sure what to expect. After watching countless hours of the Dora cartoon over the years I was surprised to find this movie had more of a Jumanji-type action feel, rather than the cheesy cartoon that I was used to.
The one main thing that I loved was Doraβs unyielding over-the-top positivity, no matter which situation she was put in. Whether she was facing the stressful ordeals that high school brings, or if she was in grave danger sinking in quicksand in the jungle – she always had the answer, a can-do attitude, and never tried to change to impress anyone. And if all else fails, then surely thereβs a song for that!
There were some good laughs throughout for both the young and old of the audience. I was amused by the witty comments and sarcastic moments made in reference to how βcrazyβ the actual Dora cartoon is.
Although there was a danger/action feel to the movie there were no overly scary parts. I felt that anything moving into the scary field was quickly followed up with a humorous scene. It was fun a light-hearted and good-feel film.
I canβt really say what age I thought this movie was suited for β more so from thinking that the cartoon is made for the young ones, but with Dora now a teenager in this movie made it also suitable for the older kids. I had an 8 year old, a 6 year old and a 5 year old who all absolutely loved it and gave it 6 thumbs up!
