Neighbour Day

So, how well do you know your neighbours?

Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community, bringing together the people next door, across the street or over on the next farm for a beer, a barbie or just a cuppa.  Neighbour Day is growing every year, with more and more Australians deciding to get together with their neighbours and communities.

Held on the last Sunday in March every year, it’s the perfect day to say thanks to those around you for being a great neighbour and for being there when you needed them.  It’s also a great opportunity to meet families new to your neighbourhood.

Over the last few years residents living in the City and North Adelaide have held street parties, movie nights, BBQ’s, group bike rides and more with support from Adelaide City Council to make it happen!

Applications are now open to hold your own Neighbour Day party!

Hints to keep it Fun & Easy

  • Keep the event short (1-2 hours) for busy people
  • Keep the event simple and ‘fuss-free’ to make it easier for you as a host on the day
  • Public spaces such as local parks work well as they are highly visible and may attract more people to come along
  • Personal invitations are very effective
  • BYO is a great idea as it allows your neighbours to contribute to the day

Visit the official Neighbour Day website where you can register your event and access a free Neighbour Day Kit.
