There’s a new kid on the Adelaide Riverbank; Urban Beach is taking over the shores of Pinky Flat with a sandy oasis this summer.

Enjoy a taste of sumptuous summer food, splash about in the kids’ water play area, or pull up a beach chair and kick back with a good book. Don’t forget to book into a Yoga or Pilates class for yourself while the kids enjoy a game of beach cricket.

There’s plenty to do for all ages; if relaxing isn’t your thing get sweaty with beach volleyball, netball, badminton and Frisbee golf; or try your hand at a game of totem tennis, Bocce or even Finska!

Some of your favourite Adelaide Riverbank family will be there with BBQ Buoys, the Popeye and Paddle Boats all joining in the summer fun.

Opening hours

Urban Beach is open Sunday – Thursday 8am – 10pm and Friday and Saturday 8am-11pm.

Please note: Urban Beach will be closed or closing early on the following dates:

Sunday 31 December: Closed from 4pm due to Elder Park NYE celebrations
Friday 12 January: Closed due to So Frenchy, So Chic
Friday 26 January: Closed from 4pm due to Elder Park Australia Day celebrations

Activities on offer at Urban Beach

Beach Cricket

Suitable for kids and big kids alike. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Summer is here and that means it’s time for the great Australian pastime, cricket. Head to the Beach Kiosk and hire a beach cricket set or bring your own and enjoy a game at Urban Beach.

VolleyGym

Suitable for ages 4 – 9 years. Get your buoys and gulls volleying like a pro with VolleyGym. They’ll learn basic movement and coordination skills while increasing flexibility, hand-eye coordination and team-work.

Water Play

Suitable for kids up to 6 years. Little ones will love splashing about in the kids’ water play area. Paddle, splash and play all while keeping cool on hot summer days. Parents must supervise children in the water play area at all times.

Food & drinks

Beach Eats

There’s nothing better than heading to the beach for dinner after a long day at work or enjoying some down time with a bite to eat. Beach Eats offers classic Aussie seaside foods such as fish and chips, burgers and much more.

 

Beach in Italian, Spiaggia serves up modern Italian with delicious pizzas, gnocchi and arancini just like Nonna makes. Mumma Mia, our mouths are watering just at the thought of it!

Looking for something a little lighter? The Beach Kiosk offers snacks, ice creams, drinks and more.

You’re also welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy at the Urban Beach. Pack a picnic rug, your favourite foods and make a day of it.
