Wild at Hart Market Pt Adelaide

Wild at Hart Market – fresh food market, Port Adelaide

The Play & Go team visited the Wild at Hart Market on a beautiful sunny winter morning. Being adjacent the new Harts Mill playground, makes it a great family friendly outing.

We were treated to some yummy food and great coffee. There’s a reason for the line-up at Bakerhus (see pic below). Their Roast Chicken Pie and Chocolate Tart were both absolutely delicious. You know how on cooking shows like MasterChef, they describe pastry as being “melt in the mouth”? Well, their pastry is exactly that. It made the Chocolate Tart so light that surely you can have more than one?? Unfortunately we don’t have photos to share of the food we enjoyed – we gobbled it up too quickly and forgot to take pics! We promise to next time we visit.

The Haddos hot dogs were popular and the kids enjoyed some chocolate brownies too.

You can pick up some organic fruit and vegetables while you’re there and check out their growing number of different market stalls.

The Wild at Hart Market website describes what they’re all about here:

Available is local produce, ethically sourced and produced, plenty of organic food, yummy meals made to order or freshly baked, loads of healthy options, juice, coffee, smoothies. This is something for everyone finally in the Hart of the Port on a Sunday.

You’ll find an eclectic mix of seating and tables in the middle of the market where you can rest, which gives this market a wonderful vintage feel.

On the day we visited during the July 2014 School Holidays, there was the Rastelli pop up circus with free 15 minute shows to entertain families. This was a special event for the holidays and not regularly at the markets, but there is always some live entertainment to enjoy every week.

It’s a great atmosphere here and a lovely Sunday family outing.

While you are at the Port you can check out the new Inner Harbour loop path; you can spot some of the resident dolphins in the Port River and of course just down the road you have the SA Maritime Museum, the Fishermans Wharf Markets, the Lighthouse to climb and dolphin cruises.

For more information visit the Wild at Hart website here or see their Facebook page here.

The Market is situated right beside the new Hart’s Mill Playground. Read our full review of this fabulous play space here.
