Jack Watkins Reserve | Kilburn | Official Opening 20 Sep 2025

The redeveloped Jack Watkins Reserve features a train theme, multiple new play spaces, nature play areas, a bike pump track, multi-use and basketball half courts, community picnic spaces and much more.

This $4 million transformation has delivered a vibrant and inclusive space for all ages to play, connect, and stay active.  The reserve also features landscaping throughout and the newly acquired land on Carroll Avenue has been turned into a new entrance.

This all comes together alongside the large open space, plus small dog park and large dog park that were already there, to create a huge recreation space in Kilburn.

Play Space Features:

  • Senior playground
  • Junior playgrounds
  • Nature play area
  • Bike pump track (the first of its kind in PAE)
  • Basketball court
  • Outdoor fitness equipment
  • Table Tennis Table
  • Shade sails
  • Six shelters, two drinking fountains and two BBQs
  • Four new toilets (under construction)
  • New car park

The upgrade was made possible thanks to a $1.45M grant from the Minister for Planning in 2023, which allowed the City of PAE to purchase four house blocks along Carroll Avenue, which allowed council to open up the reserve.

The official opening will be held on Saturday 20 September 2025 from 10am until 12pm.  There will be a sausage sizzle, coffee and live music, with an official opening by Mayor Boan.

Location:

Churchill Road, Kilburn.
